چکیده
Abstract. Marine particulate organic carbon stable isotope ratios (δ13CPOC) provide insights into understanding cycling through the atmosphere, ocean and biosphere. They have for example been used to trace input of anthropogenic in marine ecosystem due distinct isotopically light signature emissions. However, δ13CPOC is also significantly altered during photosynthesis by phytoplankton, which complicates its interpretation. For such purposes, robust spatio-temporal coverage observations essential. We collected all available data sets merged homogenized them largest set (https://doi.org/10.1594/PANGAEA.929931; Verwega et al., 2021). The consists 4732 points covering major basins beginning 1960s. describe compiled raw data, compare different observational methods, key temporal spatial distribution that consistent with previously observed large-scale patterns. main sample collection methods (bottle, intake, net, trap) are generally each other when comparing within regions. An analysis 1990s median values a meridional section across best-covered Atlantic Ocean shows relatively high (≥-22 ‰) low latitudes (<30∘) trending towards lower Arctic (∼-24 Southern (≤-28 ‰). trend since 1960s decrease more than 3 ‰ except Ocean, weaker but contains poor multi-decadal coverage.

Stable isotope composition of dissolved inorganic carbon and particulate organic carbon in sea ice from the Ross Sea, Antarctica
[1] We examined controls on the carbon isotopic composition of sea ice brines and organic matter during cruises to the Ross Sea, Antarctica in November/December 1998 and November/December 2006. Brine samples were analyzed for salinity, nutrients, total dissolved inorganic carbon (SCO2), and the C/C ratio of SCO2 (d 13CSCO2). Particulate organic matter from sea ice cores was analyzed for percent...

RATIONALE Analyses of stable carbon isotope ratios (δ13 C values) of organic and inorganic matter remains have been instrumental for much of our understanding of present and past environmental and biological processes. Until recently, the analytical window of such analyses has been limited to samples containing at least several μg of carbon. METHODS Here we present a setup combining laser abl...

Concentrations and ratios of particulate organic carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in the global ocean
Knowledge of concentrations and elemental ratios of suspended particles are important for understanding many biogeochemical processes in the ocean. These include patterns of phytoplankton nutrient limitation as well as linkages between the cycles of carbon and nitrogen or phosphorus. To further enable studies of ocean biogeochemistry, we here present a global dataset consisting of 100,605 total...
